So,we stayed an extra day in Maine. How could we leave after a sunrise like this?
I was finally able to get a few OK shots of the loons; they are rather shy. They swam up a little stream from the lake and were right behind the motor home and I was able to catch them from the bedroom window. Fascinating birds and I will miss hearing them, especially at night. So, you grandkids who have never heard a loon, close your eyes and pretend you're asleep and wake up hearing this! (scroll to Multimedia on link) How does hearing that sound make you feel?Ok, now open your eyes and take a look at how cute they are. Aren't they pretty? Their eyes are red. Neat, huh? They knew I was taking pictures of them and were in a hurry to get away.
"Faster, faster! She's right there!"
"Forget this paddling stuff; I'm diving under and swimming where she can't see me!"
"Whew! We made it to the lake. We're safe now."Oh, and Elle wanted me to tell you all that she misses you and that she loves it in Maine except for the mosquitoes. She hates it when they buzz around her and she chases them and snaps at them like she does the bees at home.

Jordyn enjoyed listening to the loons and also your commentary on the chasing of them. She laughed.
"Play it again! Play it again!"
Upon asking Jake what he would think if he woke up to this he said:
"I would be SO scared because I would think it was a wolf on the roof of the motor home...and I'm not sure that roof is very safe."
me: but it is a bird so it probably would not hurt you.
"Okay...but it IS a wolf bird...SO...I still would NOT want one on the roof.
Dom: What is that?? What is it? What is that noise mama? What IS that?
Aidan: Why did Elle say that? And why did the other animals say "hurry, hurry, faster!?"
I had no idea a bird would sound like that! I agree with Jake...sounds like a wolf.
Also...I like the verse you have at the top of your page...Psalm 19:14. It was one I had our kids memorize when they were young...and they know it to this day. It is often part of my daily prayer.
