I couldn't resist sticking my camera up to the window and blindly snapping this picture.
Nice house, huh? The buggies caught my attention and then I noticed the people working on the house. In the foreground is the corner of a huge new barn and the horses were in there. Pretty neat. I would have liked to share whatever the women were barbecuing!
Where Elle goes when she hears thunder. She and George were pond fishing when the storm came up. Her feet got my pants and the blanket I was stitching all muddy :( We had to make a dash for the motor home when the rain poured down.
And then it was time to leave Ohio and 'my' killdeer babies hadn't hatched yet. I was so sad. I pulled the table over the nest and waited to see what would happen. Well, the parents came back but wouldn't get on the nest. I figured the table was a threat as they build their nests out in the open, so I moved the table, putting it in front of the nest, edited my sign and watched again. And they were ok with that; one settled down on the eggs and I had to be content with doing all I could to protect them. Funny how a pair of birds can get into your heart. As we watched them for a couple weeks we were able to tell them apart, not by looks but by actions. One was spooky and would get off the nest whenever we opened the door or even went near the window too quickly, but the other one was not so timid and would stay on the nest, just cock it's little head and look up at us. And If Elle got too close it would actually go after her....really surprised me! I had never seen one do that, only the distraction thing. It was such a privilege and so much fun to watch them up close.

Hey Dad and Mom,
Long time no see. Sorry you didn't get to see the babies. Oh believe me, the deer around here already have a special place in my heart.
How fun to be in buggy country. I love the reflective signs on the back of them.
Love you both!
Janine
