Home Again

After an early stop in Kennewic, WA, on Sunday because of the 108 degree weather, we arrived safely home around noon on Monday.

Almost there. Elle seems to know when we get close and jumps up on the dashboard.

It's always nice to get a personal 'Welcome Home' !

Let the harvest begin. Yesterday I dug the onions and garlic.
We have already enjoyed some of the fruits of Joy's labor, savoring the taste of fresh zucchini, carrots, collards, potatoes and beets...yummy stuff!
Kids, a warm day, popsicles and a corn tent. Ahhh, summer.

West on Highway 2: Idaho

Our last day on Highway 2 brought us to the Idaho panhandle.

I guess no journey would be complete without some trials...the motor home is having issues again but after a couple of hours George solved them to the point that we could continue on our way.
The hot weather finally caught up to us, so a stop at John and Carol's was a WELCOME respite and provided a little R & R for George in the form of a jet ski.Get Ready...

Get Set...
Go..... ?GO!!!!!!

And then John and Carol prepared a 5 star meal,
seasoned with sweet fellowship.

To finish out the day we were treated to a twilight boat tour of the lake.Lily drove....

Elle tried to act unimpressed.

Thanks, John and Carol, for so graciously sharing your beautiful part of Idaho.

West on Highway 2: Montana

Good Morning, Montana

We awoke to a sweet smelling, rain freshened morning, a perfect, quiet time with only the morning song of the birds to be heard, and as I stood with my coffee in hand a Still Small Voice spoke to me the words from Lamentations 3, "...His mercies are new every morning..." . So I looked up the reference and read those words in their context:

"Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and the gall. My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me. But this I call to mind, therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. 'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in Him.' "

I stand in awe. Great is our God.

And so, with a full heart and an open road to be traveled,
we continued on our way through the beauty that is Montana.

Big fields and big sky....
... big clouds ....
... and small towns (Chester, MT) ....

... stopping at numerous salvage yards looking for a part for Jon's car...

...and continuing west towards the mountains that are home to Glacier National Park ...

... eventually stopping where a small stream joins the Middle Fork of the Flathead River which provided the background music...

... as I soaked up the wonder of God's landscaping and was reminded by these beauties of the words of Jesus to "Consider the lilies of the field.." Matthew 6:28-31

What a Glorious day.
Amen and Amen

West on Highway 2: North Dakota

As mentioned earlier, the drive across the North Central US was beautiful.

A lot of small lakes

Stunningly blue fields of flax in bloom

Wildflowers!

Prairie Grasses

And Elle appreciated the much improved outdoor facilities, as compared to her last trip across country :)
