A short walk brought us to this waterfall, described on the sign above.
Beautiful to see and hear. Quite a roar for a small falls.
Paulee, being a good dog and taking time away from sniffing to pose,
loving being out in the woods,
but even more,
enjoying some off-the-leash training, practicing "Come" and "Go see Mom". I love that smile on her face as she runs as fast as she can to me, so pleased with her reward of hugs and "Good girl" praises. She's a keeper.
Small miracles along the path.
Next came this interesting rock formation.
I spotted a strange face on the rock....I don't know if it is natural or man enhanced, but it certainly caught my attention.
Next to the "face" was this area of what I'm guessing are mineral deposits.
Several miles farther and the rocks were totally different. It appears to be shale, placed vertically...
topped with Black Oak trees!
The trees in the area are a striking blend of Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir, Cedar, the Black Oak and others.
And this is home for a few days, the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds.
In the background is the rodeo arena....
...and out the front window are the horse stables.
We are alone for now; maybe there will be some activity during the week.
Lots of walking and exploring area for Paulee and me and
I can see the mill where George will be working!
