Thoughts

Great experience today...I got to turn up a very small patch of dirt with my Dad's old turning fork; breathe deeply that wet garden dirt smell and smile as the red worms and night crawlers squirmed in the sunlight and headed back down in the loose dirt; listen to a couple of robins discussing some spring business and the scritching of the grey squirrel's little claws as he scurried up the tree with a peanut in his mouth....wow. It was one of those days here in the Willamette Valley when the weather is a little bit of a lot of things - sun, rain, wind -and just warm enough to bring hope that Spring really is coming! God is Good.

Do you read Robert Frost? You should if you don't. I think he's a poet that would speak to you.

A Prayer in Spring

Robert Frost (1915)

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfil.

Beautiful. That is how I would like to be able to say what I feel. I thank God that He has gifted some with the ability to "soul speak". Thanks for sharing.
